Introducing the Faculty Programme
Posted:
The Faculty is for people who want to keep learning. It’s a loose umbrella of events and courses for people who want to expand their horizons and learn new skills. Our new partnership with Blick Studios and Infinite Jest is only a few months old but most of our events are selling out. It seems that just because you’ve left school doesn’t mean you lot want to stop learning. We won’t give you a certificate or letters after your name but you will be better at something or know more about something and for most people that’s enough.
Faculty programme so far in 2016 is as follows…
- Introduction to Music Business with Lyndon Stephens starts 3 February (6 weeks)
- Film Making with Chris Eva starts 1 February (6 weeks)
- Creative Writing with Bethany Dawson starts 3 February (6 weeks)
- Introduction to Magic with Caolan McBride 30 January
- Stencil Art with Visual Waste 30 January
- How to Make Your Own Beer with Aaron Hunter 31 January
- Print or Die with Journeymen Printers 31 January
- How to Lobby with Chris McCreery starts 6 April (6 weeks)
- Music Journalism with Brian Coney starts 6 April (6 weeks)
- Photography with Simon Mills starts 4 April (6 weeks)

- Witch Trials at Island Magee & Beyond 20 March
These classes or events can simply be a taster – a fun window into a world you are interested in, or they can provide a portfolio of experience and a network of contacts that can help participants get started on the ladder, either with a view to building a full time career for themselves, or simply to supplement their existing career in a way that they find enjoyable and rewarding. Also look out for our Faculty Film Club and more Faculty events being announced soon.
