Industry professionals will teach courses and workshops which focus on providing a practical real life insight into building a career within the creative industries.

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at the art of stand-up comedy? From one-liners to story-telling, from satire to puns, this beginner’s workshop will give you a kick start in what can be a fun hobby or even a professional career. Led by comedian and Big Laughs Belfast comedy promoter Graeme Watson, the course will feature advice on writing and performance, along with a weekly practical workshop which will help you find your own unique style and build it into a workable routine.

Film Journalism - TASTER (5 weeks)

The aim of the course is to take a look at the tools and methods of how to read films, how to contextualize films, how to write about films with your particular audience in mind and how to place yourself within the industry as a film journalist. With a keen eye on the changing shape of the film industry the course acknowledges the need to be entrepreneurial in making the industry work for you within the niche world of the film journalist. With workshops, screenings, interview practice, group and individual tutorials, mini presentations and the close study of case studies, this class promises to be an exciting spring-board for the young aspiring film journalist.
We will be working on Word. All hand out hard copy materials will be supplied.

Street Arts (5 weeks)
TUTOR: Marion Noone aka Friz
START DATE: Saturday 28th January 2012

Students will learn the history and evolution of various street styles, preparation and different techniques, as well as have the opportunity to forge connections with renowned international street artists. Marion Noone aka Friz, part of the Spoom Collective along with KVLR, will focus on the skills needed to work collaberatively on large scale street murals and live drawing. This course is perfect for art students wishing to broaden their skills base and gain a foothold in this exciting new scene. Students work alongside Friz and guest tutors to create a permanent, large scale piece of street art.
